2018 Q1 color TV grew 3% year-on-year

According to the report, the retail volume of the domestic TV market in the first quarter was 12.15 million units, an increase of 3.0% year-on-year, and retail sales of RMB 40.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%. Compared to the total sales of 47.52 million units in 2017, a 6.6% year-on-year drop, the 2018 start can be described as “beautiful”.

For the color TV industry, 2017 is turbulent. Due to the surge in panel prices from the end of 2016 to the beginning of 2017, the Internet brands with content subsidy hardware are in an even more embarrassing position, and they are unable to make ends meet, and many Internet brands have lost their sales and even faced danger of going out. However, with the loosening of panel prices in the second half of 2017, the color TV market gradually recovered and ushered in a positive start to Q1 in 2018.

According to Ove Cloud Network data, online retail volume reached 4.71 million units in the first quarter, up 31.1% year-on-year, while offline retail volume was only 7.45 million units, down 9.2% year-on-year. In the 80s and 90s after the main force of the consumer market, these consumer groups prefer online shopping, and online growth is significant.

In addition, in the form of television, curved TV seems to have receded its initial surprise, and consumers’ preference for curved television has declined. Data show that the market share of curved screen color TV in the first quarter dropped by 4.4% compared with the same period of last year, while 4K TV share increased by 7.2% compared to the same period of last year, and OLED TV share increased by 0.4% compared with the same period of last year.
