NEC pushes ARM Cortex-A9 core full HD decoder chip

NEC Electronics recently released a dedicated high-definition decoder chip for mobile audio and video equipment such as handheld media players, called EMMA Mobile / EV, which supports 1080p FullHD full-HD video playback. Samples will be provided to customer manufacturers from July this year.

EMMA Mobile / EV is equipped with the ARM Cortex-A9 core commonly used in high-end smart phones. It is divided into single-core EMMA Mobile / EV1 and dual-core EMMA Mobile / EV2. It is equipped with a dedicated high-definition video decoding circuit and supports 1920x1080 resolution 30FPS frame rate. Video decoding, support video formats including MPEG-4 AVC / H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VC-1, audio formats support MP3, AAC, WMA and Dolby Digital 5.1 channel AC-3.

Based on intelligent power consumption control technology, the chip can automatically adjust the frequency or switching status of each module, saving 30% energy compared to the previous generation. In addition, the dual-core model EMMA Mobile / EV2 also integrates the powerful 3D graphics core PowerVR SGX530 authorized by ImaginaTIon.

EMMA Mobile / EV supports MobileDDR / DDR2 memory, 393pin FBGA package, the diagonal size is 16mm. NEC said that the chip will begin mass production in December this year, with a planned monthly production of 1 million next year, and the sample price currently offered is 5,000 yen.

5. Lamp power supply: such as garden lamps, street lamps, portable lamps, camping lamps, mountaineering lamps, fishing lamps, black light lamps, rubber tapping lamps, energy-saving lamps, etc.
6. Photovoltaic power station: 10KW-50MW independent photovoltaic power station, wind-solar (firewood) complementary power station, various large parking plant charging stations, etc.
7. Solar buildings: Combining solar power generation with building materials will enable large buildings in the future to achieve self-sufficiency in electricity, which is a major development direction in the future.
8.
