DC motor power driver chip and its application - Power Circuit - Circuit Diagram
The SA60 and LMD18245 are full-bridge power output circuits for small and medium-sized DC motors introduced by Apex and NS, respectively. They have the commonality of realizing the functions of power drive, control and protection of the motor with a small number of external components, and have their own characteristics. The following is an introduction to its pins, functional characteristics and typical applications.
The main performance parameters and characteristics of the two chips
SA60 performance parameters and application range
The SA60 is a PWM type power output chip. The circuit provides a maximum supply voltage of 80V to the motor and can continuously supply 10A to the load. The maximum analog input voltage is 5V, the PWM carrier frequency can be up to 250kHz, and the efficiency can be as high as 97%. The chip can also be connected with a compatible TTL type PWM signal to synchronize the amplitude and direction of the four-quadrant mode. SA60 is mainly used in driving small and medium-sized DC motors, Class D power amplification, bearing excitation and other occasions.
LMD18245 performance parameters and application range
The LMD18245 chip provides a maximum supply voltage of 55V for the motor, logic circuit voltage 12V, maximum continuous current output 3A, peak current up to 6A, minimum input pulse width 2μS, current sensor maximum linearity error ±9%. Like the SA60, this power output stage is highly efficient. Since the circuit integrates a four-bit D/A converter and a motor current sensor, and a chopper amplifier with a fixed cut-off time, the LMD18254 can easily perform digital control of the motor current and realize the microstep drive of the stepper motor. Therefore, the chip is mainly used for the control and driving of small DC motors, especially stepper motors.
