Iran's five-year plan for aluminum production will reach 650,000 tons per year

The Iranian Minister of Industry and Mining said that in the fourth five-year plan, the annual production of aluminum will reach 650,000 tons.

On Friday, Ahmad Ali Harati-Nik visited Mahdi Aluminium in Bandar Abbas and said that aluminum production is currently maintained at 220,000 tons per year.

He added that once the second phase of the aluminum plant expansion project is completed, the capacity will reach 300,000 tons.

As for the temporary anode production line of the aluminum plant, Harati-Nik expressed the hope that it will be officially opened in September.

Officials said that the country has invested heavily in introducing anode production lines from Chinese companies, which are mainly used for nuclear energy and aluminum production.

He said that once the production line is officially put into operation, the tension in demand for aluminum will be alleviated.

Harati-Nik said, “The aluminum industry is an important area of our work and we welcome private investment.”
