Abstract: The discharge system using IGBT power device, PWM control and Constantan resistance alloy as discharge resistor is introduced. The discharge current is continuously adjustable in a wide range of 4~20A, and has high constant current precision. Checking the load capacity and capacity of large-capacity batteries. The results show that the development of this system has changed the situation that the battery monitoring equipment has low precision and low reliability.

As a backup power source, the battery plays an extremely important role in the DC system, and is widely used in various industries such as power, communication, finance, and transportation. Usually, the battery pack is in a floating charge standby state, and the load is supplied by AC. Only when the AC power is lost, the battery pack supplies energy to the load. In order to verify the actual capacity of the battery pack and ensure the normal operation of the system, it is generally necessary to perform a check-up discharge on the battery pack once a year. At present, the discharge devices in the domestic market mainly use variable resistors, resistance plates, carbon rods, etc., and need to manually adjust the discharge current, the control precision is low, and the work is complicated. In response to the status quo, we have developed an automatic constant current discharge system. The system adopts advanced IGBT high-power electronic device and PWM pulse width modulation control technology, and uses Constantan resistance alloy as discharge resistance, and the discharge current is continuously adjustable in a wide range, and has high constant current precision. The high-power electronic load and constant current control technology can instantaneously withstand an inrush current of up to 100A and a long-term 20A constant-current load to achieve battery load capacity detection and battery capacity verification.

1 discharge system works

The composition of the discharge system includes the IGBT power device part, the PWM integrated drive circuit part, the sampling amplification, comparison, and feedback part. The system block diagram is shown in Figure 1.
