Panasonic's 6 billion acquisition of European ZKW, entering the LED headlight market

Among them, Japan's Panasonic will acquire ZKW, a European headlight manufacturer, and enter the market.
It is reported that Panasonic and ZKW have entered the final negotiation stage for the acquisition. It is expected to reach a basic consensus within this month (December), and the estimated acquisition amount will reach 100 billion yen (equivalent to RMB 6.055 billion).
Founded in 1938, ZKW's main products are LED lights. It has production and research bases in Europe, America, China and India. At present, it supplies headlight products to GM and other European and American automobile manufacturers. The revenue in 2016 is estimated to be 900 million. The euro (equivalent to about RMB 6.548 billion) and the global workforce is about 7,500.
The report pointed out that in the era of automatic driving, the lights will become an important part of the safety of the left and right. At present, in the global lamp market, the leading factory Koito and the French Valeo have a total market share of nearly 50%, ZKW The market share is about 5%. However, Panasonic has a wealth of knowledge and technology in areas such as sensors. It is expected to develop new car products by combining the operational resources of both parties and catch up with the top two plants (small and Valeo).
In 2015, Panasonic took a stake in Ficosa International SA, a Spanish auto parts manufacturer, and acquired a 49% stake in Ficosa to jointly develop automotive electronic mirrors.
South Korea's Samsung Electronics announced in November that it will acquire Harman International Industries (Incorporated), the leader in automotive connectivity solutions for the US$8 billion; Siemens and Valeo have established a joint venture for driving parts for EV.
