Rockwell Collins launches new system - IDVS's head-up display

In the context of the information age, information has become a major weapon for soldiers on the battlefield. Recently, the new system launched by Rockwell Collins brought this key "weapon" to the eyes of soldiers. The head-up display, called IDVS, can be connected to a combat helmet to get instant information from a command center, other comrades or drones, and a multi-spectral sensor that enhances the wearer's vision.

The IDVS display system lets soldiers know about battlefield information.

The device sounds very similar to BAE's Q-Warrior HUD, and their greatest common denominator is to provide critical data while not distracting the warriors who are on hand. The data is presented in the form of maps, compass marks, characters or object markers. The display also offers HD resolution of 1920 & TImes; 1200, which supports the adjustment of the distance.

In addition, IDVS provides a range of visibility by working with multiple sensors on the top under conditions of poor visibility such as smoke, fog, dust or darkness. Two of the sensors detect visible and near-infrared light, while the other provides thermal infrared imaging. According to Rockwell Collins, the system can quickly transition between different intensities of light. The readings collected by the above sensors will be displayed in a 40 degree field of view display without any distortion of the image.

The IDVS is supplied by four 18650 models of lithium batteries (or eight CR123 models) that theoretically support 6 hours of sensor operation. To demonstrate the future availability and potential of the IDVS system, the company will also build an open architecture on the existing basis, allowing soldiers to enter and export data and support the latest technology upgrades.
