What is a transmitter
Transmitters are developed from sensors, and all sensors can output standard signals. Standard signal refers to a signal whose form and quantity range of physical quantities conform to international standards. Since the DC signal has the advantages of not being affected by the inductance, capacitance and load properties in the line, and no phase shift problem, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has the current signal 4mA~20mA (DC) and voltage signal 1V~ 5V (DC) is determined as a unified standard for analog signals in process control systems.
The transmitter is a converter that converts the output signal of the sensor into a signal that can be recognized by the controller (or converts the non-electricity input from the sensor into an electrical signal while amplifying it for remote measurement and control). The sensor and transmitter together constitute a monitoring signal source for automatic control.
Transmitter can be divided into current output type and voltage output type according to the output signal type; according to the different energy used, the transmitter is divided into two types: pneumatic transmitter and electric transmitter.
The sensor generally refers to a sensitive element, which converts the measured physical quantity into an electrical signal, such as a thermistor, which converts a temperature change into a resistance signal change. The transmitter is a conditioning circuit unit that regulates the output signal of a non-standard sensor into a standard voltage or current signal.
