Liu Rongsheng, director of Tsinghua Optoelectronics Research Institute, is optimistic about LED business opportunities
LED is an emerging industry in the optoelectronic industry, and due to various reasons such as technology, white LED manufacturing is the most difficult. Authorities expect that white LEDs will bring the second revolution in lighting. Professor Liu Rongsheng, director of the Institute of Optoelectronic Engineering at Tsinghua University in Taiwan, said in an interview that white LEDs contain huge business opportunities. The industry on both sides should seize opportunities, strengthen cooperation and strive to become leaders in new technologies.
At present, awareness of energy conservation and environmental protection is increasing, and LED lighting technology has received increasing attention. Professor Liu Rongsheng said that the emerging optoelectronic semiconductor technology represented by white LED lighting has a very distinct advantage.

In particular, some smart features can be controlled at will. So I encourage everyone to look at the development of LED from this perspective.
Liu Rongsheng said that in the rescue work of the Wenchuan Earthquake last year and the artistic performances of the Beijing Olympic Games, white LED lighting has shown great talent. At present, Taiwan's LED lighting technology has developed to a fairly mature stage, with the highest production capacity in the world. However, in the mastery of original intellectual property rights and the development of innovative application products, there is still a certain gap compared with European and American countries. At present, the mainland region attaches great importance to the development of the LED industry. If it can fully integrate the talents, technologies, markets and resources of the two sides, the development prospect of white LED lighting is very broad. Professor Liu also believes that Xiamen has laid a relatively good foundation in the optoelectronic industry. In this regard, Xiamen will play a greater role.
