Toshiba Lighting plans to set up a production base in India

According to foreign media reports, Japanese lighting manufacturer Toshiba Lighting showed great interest in the Indian market. The company has a subsidiary, GreenStar, in India and plans to expand its R&D center's production and investment scale.

Toshiba plans to increase the revenue of India's LED business to US$40 million in the next five years, a year-on-year increase of 40%. This figure is 10 times its current revenue base (US$4 million).

“Our main production bases are in China and Japan,” said Yoichi Ibi, president and chief executive officer of Toshiba Lighting and Technology. "But we also try to view India as the next production base. It will not only supply the local market, it will also meet global demand." However, the implementation of the plan will depend on Toshiba's actual sales in India.
