Ams launches noise-cancelling headset technology based on four-segment 3.5mm audio interface

The new communication accessory interface (ACI) invented by Ams Semiconductor uses the microphone (MIC) line in the standard 3.5 mm audio cable, which can realize power supply and can carry out two-way data transmission at 16 Mbit / sec. By removing the battery in the headset using the Ams ACI solution, manufacturers can use the common and robust 3.5mm audio interface to significantly reduce the size, weight and material cost of accessories.
The new functions provided by the ACI technology of Ams enable the well-known 3.5mm interface to have more functions than before. Active noise reduction (ANC) headphones using ACI technology can not only achieve noise reduction at the receiving end (Rx), but also achieve noise reduction at the transmitting end (Tx), which can significantly improve audio quality during voice calls. Products can add functions through the sensors used on the headset, such as: gesture recognition, proximity sensing, heart rate measurement, temperature sensing and other features. Ames's 3.5mm audio solution consumes 60% less power than USB type-c systems, minimizing the battery consumption of mobile phones. Compared with the USB type-c system, the ACI system requires fewer components and lower system costs, enabling manufacturers to afford the bundling of noise-cancelling headphones and mobile phones. In addition, the system is also compatible with traditional headphones without ACI technology.
