Cisco's $ 5 billion acquisition of NDS powers video services
Cisco announced yesterday that it has completed the acquisition of NDS Group. NDS Group is a leading provider of video software and content security solutions. Its products can help service providers and media companies provide video services safely. Cisco announced on March 15, 2012 that it had signed an acquisition agreement with NDS. NDS's software platform, customer base and service model will complement Cisco's networked video products and accelerate the release of Videoscape.
Cisco will also expand the sales scope of its global video products in the new market through the acquisition of NDS, further expand the service scope of its service providers and deepen its relationship with customers.
NDS employees will join the Cisco Service Provider Video Technology Group (SPVTG) led by Senior Vice President and General Manager Jesper Andersen. After the transaction was completed, Dr. Abe Peled, former chairman and chief executive officer of NDS, became senior vice president and chief strategist of the Video and Collaboration Division (CVCG) of Cisco Service Provider Video Technology Group. He will report to MarTIn De Beer, senior vice president of the department.
According to the agreement, Cisco paid approximately $ 5 billion to acquire all NDS businesses. This transaction is expected to increase Cisco's non-US GAAP earnings per share.
