Broadcom Introduces Industry's First Single-Chip Solution for DVB-T2 System
21ic Broadcom recently announced the industry's first highly integrated DVB-T2 system-level single-chip (SoC) solution. The new BCM7563 integrates a DVB-T2 tuner, demodulator, CPU and HD audio video and graphics backend to meet the growing demand in the digital terrestrial television (DTT) market. Most of the mainstream DVB-T2 chips on the market currently use a three-chip solution. The emergence of the BCM7563 greatly enriches the market choice and provides equipment manufacturers with easy-to-manufacture and low-complexity solutions. In addition, it facilitates carrier upgrades, from one-way broadcasts to digital video recording (DVR) and future two-way interactive IP services such as HbbTV, video on demand (VoD) and online shopping.
